The Public Relations and Publicity (English) Program, which is the only department providing English education in the Faculty of Communication, was established in 2010. The first students of the Program whom enrolled at the School of Foreign Languages for one year were graduated in 2015. Since the day it was founded, the program has educated specialists and managers who have gained knowledge, and experience in the fields of public relations and communication that are closely related to public relations, and who have contemporary management approaches and English proficiency. With this mission, a total of 50 graduates have been granted until 2018 and graduates work in various departments and positions in communication departments of global, international and national companies, international and national advertising, public relations and media agencies, universities, municipalities and non-governmental organizations.
Public Relations and Publicity (English) program was directed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Demir between 2010-2011 and Asst. Prof. Dr. Selva Ersöz between the years 2011-2016. Since 2016, the director of the program is Asst. Prof. Dr. Şenay Görkem. In addition, the academic staff of the department consists of 1 professor, 4 asst. Prof. Dr. members and 1 research assistant. Since most of the students enrolled in the department receive language education at the School of Foreign Languages after the language placement exam, the courses are held with an average of 10-15 students. As the number of students per faculty member is low, academic counseling system is carried out effectively, student-centered education process is facilitated and the effectiveness of the courses increases. The Department of Public Relations and Publicity (English) is also the organizer of the leg of the Faculty of Communication of the International Student Congresses held every year at our University.
