Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Exams:
- At least one midterm and a final exam are scheduled on the each academic semester. Assignments, projects, laboratories and similar studies can be accepted as a midterm. The final examination should be done in written form.
- Semester grade should contain all exam results and studies conducted during the semester. The excuse of the students who did not attend the final exam is evaluated by the Board of the Graduate School.
- The instructors announce the percentage of the exams on the success grades to the students at the beginning of each semester in course syllabus.
Evaluation and Grading:
- As a result of the evaluation, s/he gives one of the grades below as the student's final grade.

AA, BA, BB, CB and CC mean that the course has been completed successfully. DC and DD grades show that the course has been completed successfully providing that the student has fulfilled the cumulative grade point average requirement which is 2.50 for master students and 3.00 for Ph.D. students. Grade F shows that the student has been unsuccessful; so the course should be retaken.
- Special conditions of students in a course are shown with the letters below:

Student has succeeded in a course without credit or in one that is not included in the average |

BZ (unsuccessful) |
Student has been unsuccessful in a course without credit or in one that is not included in the average. |

EK (Incomplete) |
In a condition of incompleteness resulting from the student, the instructor takes valid excuses into consideration and asks the student to compensate those imperfections. Providing that the imperfections are not compensated maximum in two weeks after passing grades are announced, the mark of incomplete, changes to an F grade. |

ÇK (Dropped) |
It shows that the student has drawn form the course. It does not participate in the weighted average. |

DZ (Unattended) |
Student has not fulfilled attendance requirements. (Absenteeism is regarded as an F grade while the averages are calculated.) |
|
TF (Transfer) |
Equivalent courses which the student took and succeeded in other higher education institutions, in another institute or in the previous program and which have been recognized in the current undergraduate transfer program. |
|
TK (retaken) |
Show repetitive courses. The course has been repeated due to failure.
|
|
DE-CON (Successfully continued) |
It shows ongoing master theses, projects and graduation projects that have not yet been completed. |
|
KZ (non-credit course) |
It shows non-credit course. |
- The grades that will be assessed as a provision of achievement grades that will be applied at the time of transfer from/to the University to/from other universities or institutions are as follows:

Grades can be calculated as follows:
- To graduate from a graduate program, the student's (Cumulative Grade Point Average) CGPA must be at least 2.50.

If they have passed all credit courses, they will repeat the courses they have passed with DD, DC, CC or CB achievement grade before they can raise their CGPA below 2.50.
