Academic Research Unit for Mentally Handicapped People

Academic Research Unit for Mentally Handicapped People affiliated to the Rectorate was founded on May 2002 with the collaboration with Spastic Children Foundation of Turkey.

In order to decrease the number of handicapped people in our country, it aims to:

• Educate young academicians equipped with anatomic and physiological knowledge
• Examine handicapped people in terms of social, economic, medical and genetic perspectives
• Compare the results with the world statistics
• Contribute to plan the studies to take necessary precautions in order to pre-diagnose the disorders and eliminate the bad results of late diagnosis.
